It just seems appropriate when a running Quarter Horse earns a World Championship title that the classic distance of 440 yards is involved. After all, the American Quarter Horse got
its name from the ability as a racehorse to excel at the quarter-mile distance. Empressum is the 2022 AQHA World Champion, the Champion Aged Horse and the Champion Aged Gelding. He solidified his World Championship with an overpowering win in the quarter mile 2022 Champion of Champion-G1.
The Empressum racing team is very familiar to us as he is bred and owned
by Jeff Jones and Steve Holt and trained by Heath Taylor. His regular rider was Rodrigo Vallejo. The story of his owners and trainer team is familiar to us as they raced Hes Judgeandjury, the winner of the 2022 All American Futurity-G1 and a half-brother to Empressum.
The night of January 18, 2023, will forever be burned in the memories of Jeff Jones and Steve Holt as they not only bred and own Empressum, their gelding
Hes Judgeandjury earned the 2022 AQHA Champion Two Year Old and Champion Two- Year-Old Gelding titles. They are the AQHA Racing Champion Owners, their trainer Heath Taylor is the 2022 Blane Schvaneveldt Champion Trainer and their jockey for Hes Judgeandjury in the All American Futurity
was James Flores, the 2022 AQHA Champion Jockey. The night was topped off with an announcement that their mare Crazy Down Corona, the homebred dam of Empressum and Hes Judgeandjury, received her title as an AQHA Dam of Distinction. As they say, 2022
