Flores praised his mount’s professionalism.
“I started feeling comfortable about 150 yards in when we were clear, and I knew
I had this kind of horse underneath me,” Flores stated. “He’s a super horse, and you have to ride that kind of horse to win a
race like this. I wouldn’t trade places with anybody. I want to thank all the owners and trainers who give me the opportunity to live my dreams.”
Valeriano purchased Gold Heart Eagle V privately as a foal from breeder Christine Hudson. The “V” in the colt’s name refers to Valeriano.
“I’ve bought everything that mare has had right after One Fabulous Eagle qualified and ran second in the All American Futurity
(in 2015),” said Valeriano.
Hudson bred Gold Heart Eagle V
and One Fabulous Eagle, both by One Famous Eagle, in Texas from unraced Ladys Heart Of Gold. The mare has
produced nine winners from 11 starters.
One Fabulous Eagle is a stakes winner, as are Eagle On The Fly and
Dahteste. The mare’s winners also include three
stakes-placed runners.
“I had a full brother (I Make You Famous V), and I have a full sister, a two year old (One Famous Queen V),” said Valeriano.
As for Gold Heart Eagle V, Valeriano and Arrossa didn’t immediately decide on his next major goal. He received a berth
to the Champion of Champions-G1 at Los Alamitos, but Valeriano said the colt is also paid into the Texas Classic Derby-G1 at Lone Star Park.
Jesus Ayala rode Inaugurator (Apollitical Jess-Famous Phoebe) to second for Valeriano and Arrossa, while Cers Final Try (One Dashing Eagle-BP Shes All Corona) finished third. Alfredo Sigala rode Cers Final Try for trainer Tony Sedillo, and owner
Christina Robinson.
Completing the field were Hotsempting (Tempting Dash-Pandorum) in fourth, followed by Hes Back (Hes Relentless-Checknbac), KJ Mucho Macho Man (Apollitical Jess-Wild Six), Jess Sumokin Hot (Apollitical Jess-Sumokin), Love Is Everything V (One Valiant Hero- Echoes Of Love), Kleptomaniac (Favorite Cartel-Remember The Cartel) and Elm Creek Khrome (Krash Cartel-Jess Love
To Fly).
