The photo on page 193 shows Dash For Speed (Dash For Cash-Mighty Speedy, Mighty Deck) with her connections after winning the 1988 All American Derby under Steve Fuller for owners Blakeman Farms & Thomas Bradbury and trainer Larry Keiter. Foaled in 1985, Dash For Speed was bred by B.F. Phillips Jr. and Mcrae Int. Inc.
The mare began her career on the track at 2 years of age with a win, and raced until she was 5 years old with her final race a wire-to-wire victory in the Champion of Champions-G1. During her career she won 22 races from 31 starts, including the All American Derby-G1, All American Gold Cup-G1 and World’s Championship Classic-G1, to name just a few of her 10 Grade 1 wins that also includes a New Track Record in the Anne Burnett Invitational-G1. With her victory in the All American Derby coming after scores in the Kansas Derby-G1 and Rainbow Derby-G1, Dash For Speed became the first Triple Crown Derby winner since My Easy Credit won the races in 1977.
