The decision to move the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale to the Lazy E Arena in Oklahoma was made due to COVID-19 restrictions. The All American Ruidoso Horse Sale Company also made the decision to com- bine the sale with the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, making them one event held over a 3-day period Aug. 27-29.
Of the 115 New Mexico Bred yearlings offered, 103 sold for a gross amount of $1,589,200. The average fell to $14,488, down from last year’s record average, and the median price was $8,200.
The high-seller at $85,000 was Hip# 136 Dix E Chick (Big Daddy Cartel-Maggies Miracle LX, Dean Miracle). Consigned by MJ Farms, Agent for Benny Smith and purchased by Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley, the gray filly is by All American Futurity-G1 finalist Big Daddy Cartel and out of a daughter of Cham- pion Dean Miracle. Dix E Chick is a half-sister to four blacktype runners.
MJ Farms, Agent also consigned the $77,000 second highest-seller, Hip #149 Rip Ride (Woodbridge-Ms Riptide, Ocean Runaway). LOS, LLC purchased the sorrel colt out of stakes winner Ms Riptide. Rip Ride is a full brother to 2020 Zia Derby-RG2 and 2019 Zia Futurity- RG1 winner Mister Riptide, who was also 2nd in the 2019 All American Futurity-G1.
