Eyesa Freighttrain B’s winning connections include owner Jerry Deville and trainer Jose Espinosa’s Party Tyme Racng and jockey Everardo Rodriguez
Freighttrain B is produced from the winning Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana.
“We thought we had us a good pony to start with,” said Deville. “He had been showing a
lot of good stuff on the track when we worked him. All his works were nice.
“When the trials came, he had a little mishap in the gate, but when he rallied and still won his trial, all we prayed for (in the main event) was a clean break,” he continued.
“He broke super clean, he was focused
in the gate, and he made it look simple. Hopefully, we’ll stay blessed. We have a lot
of faith in him, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the year. We think he is something special. I guess time will tell.”
As for Eyesa Freighttrain B’s future, Deville said, “We’ll prep him for the Lee Berwick-RG1 (in July) and try to get him in the top 10 for that. We’ll try to campaign him his two-year- old year here in the state of Louisiana.
“Right now, we have a lot of dreams for him. Hopefully he can stay sound,” Deville concluded.
Runner-up Hijack A Train (Freighttrain B-Newport Lily), sent off as the 9-5 race favorite, pressured the winner throughout but had to settle for the place spot under jockey Nestor Duran. Owned by Alan Duran and trained by Josue Ponce, Hijack A Train won his trial heat after finishing third in the Mardi Gras Futurity-G2 at Louisiana Downs in March. The brown gelding is out of the Stoli mare Newport Lily, who is the dam of four stakes horses, including Grade 2 winners Hiclass Vodka
and Triple Vodka. Hijack A Train was bred in Louisiana by Harold Jeanotte.
Apollitical Force (Power Jam TB-Apollitical Scandal) rallied late to finish third under jockey Arturo Alvarez. The sorrel gelding, a winner of his trial heat, is owned by Rolando Pizana and conditioned by Miguel Pizana. A two-time winner, Apollitical Force was bred in Louisiana
by Tom Hill Selman and was an $8,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate.
Kryptic (Tarzanito-Wedding Krasher), finished in fourth place, KP Paintmeasymphony (Paint Me Perry-Bittersweetsymphony), San Lorenzo Mudbug (Freighttrain B-It’sakatfight TB), Grand Hercules (Freighttrain B-Geaux Blue), Hogwartz (Mr Piloto-JLS Sheza Fisher) and Cartel Roses Z (Five Bar Cartel-Yellow Rose B) completed the order of finish. Cartel Roses Z was disqualified from eighth to ninth for interference in mid-stretch. AJ Train
was scratched.
