Decide had a stakes victory in his sights. The five-year-old gelding scored his first-ever win in stakes company on June 17 at Sam Houston Race Park, taking the $54,000 Jesse Yoakum Memorial 870 Stakes by 2-lengths.
Eye Will Decide made a driving finish to run away with this one. He broke on top from the No. 5 hole, led by a head at the first call, then yielded the advantage to Stargate as they entered the stretch. Jockey Noe Villatoro urged Eye Will Decide to rally, and the gelding blew past his foes to hit the wire with a strong 2-length margin of victory. Bryon Gardner home-bred Eye Will Decide, who finished the 870-yard race in :47.456. Adan Guzman took over training Eye Will Decide this year.
Eye Will Decide posted his second straight win and reached the winner’s circle for the fourth time in his career. This breakthrough victory in stakes company brought in a $32,400 payday that pushed the gelding’s total earnings into six figures at $101,756.
Gardner bred Eye Will Decide out of Valiant Lil Lady, winner of the 2012 Texas Classic Futurity-G1. She is also a full sister to All American Derby-G1 winner Rustys Miracle.
Ghost Bear (Phantom Menace-Loose Play TB) finished second for owner Sarah Huskey and trainer Esteban Rubio. Luciano Duenes had the riding assignment. Jax Louisiana Game (The Louisiana Cartel-Thunder Got Game), a former Grade 3 winner, placed third in this race for Thomas Tiller. The Brittany Tellez trainee had Froylan Ramirez up.
The remaining order of finish was Stargate (Flyin Color-Wish I Dustem), Flyin Rusty (Flyin Color-Bling Bling Bok), Anzio (Woerner Mountain- Hot Country Woman TB), Cjs Rockhard N Ready (Rock Solid Jess-Sultry Miss), and Superfragilistic (Flyin Color-Jump N Bok).

aking his 14th career start, Bosanova Blood
dashed to his first-ever stakes victory on June 17 at Fair Meadows, winning the $17,000 Golden Driller Stakes.
Bosanova Blood got bumped at the start coming out of the inside starting gate but rider Gonzalo Gutierrez kept the colt on course. He led by a head going into the stretch, then held on to win by a neck.
Diego Arroyo trains Bosanova Blood, who completed the 350-yard race in :17.764 for a 96 speed index. This was Bosanova Blood’s first try in stakes company, after three unsuccessful bids to qualify for stakes events in 2021 and 2022. Foaled in Oklahoma, Bosanova Blood has competed at six tracks in five different states.
Chavez Concrete Inc. owns Bosanova Blood, a four-year-old bay colt who notched his fourth win and banked a $10,500 payday that improved his total earnings to $79,616. This was his first victory of the 2023 campaign; his last trip to the winner’s circle came last December, as he closed his 2022 schedule with back-to-back wins in allowance races at Zia Park.
Verle Bohner bred Bosanova Blood out of Bosanova Baby, a 1999 mare who won four races and competed in multiple graded stakes.
Lil Pete El Soruyo (Lil Kool Wagon- Pistolpaknprincess), who entered this event on a three-race win streak, finished a close second for Humberto Rivera. Stacy Belt is the trainer and Andrew Samaniego had the riding assignment.
JK Wildcat Red (One Dashing Eagle-Shaky Girl) hit the board in third for owner Regina Laymon and trainer Victor Ibarra. Cody Wainscott was in the irons.
JK Zipper (Apollitical Jess-Pretty Girl Kate) and Rock On (First Moonflash-Kitty D Ville) completed the field.
Fair Meadows Juvenile
LETT IT BE

ett It Be rocketed to the top of the charts in the
Fair Meadows Juvenile, winning the $15,000 stakes on June 17 at Fair Meadows.
A trainee of Waylon Melton, Lett It Be left little doubt in this one. The gelding broke from the No. 4 gate and promptly surged to the front of the field, leading by a full length at the first call. Lett It Be maintained that advantage going into the stretch, then ran away from any rivals, hitting the wire with a 2-length margin of victory.
Juan Pulido was in the irons as Lett It Be finished the 350-yard trip in :17.917 for a 91 speed index.
Rex Robinson owns the two-year-old gelding, who tallied his first win in stakes company and second victory in three total starts. The stakes victory produced a $10,392 payday that increased Lett It Be’s total earnings to $28,115.
Darling Farms bred Lett It Be out of Lett Her Zoom, a 2001 mare and former Graded stakes winner. She captured the 2003 running of the Kansas Futurity-G2 as part of a career that reaped more than $309,000 in prize money.
Luz Chavira trains the other two horses who hit the board. Dashin Lewee (Big Lew-The Dashing Attitude) finished second by a neck for owner Janet Martinez with Gonzalo Gutierrez in the irons. The gelding has won four of his five starts.
Dance Hawl Gal (Duponte-Jess a Coronas Heart) hit the board in third by a head. The filly is owned by Erick Aguilar and had Cordarelton Benn aboard. The filly has hit the board in all of her
five starts and was third in the Oklahoma Juvenile Stakes in March.
The remaining order of finish was Jt Im That Boy (TF Im That Guy-Sweet Chico), Cuz Im High On You (Highest Fire-Showum Some Kisses), Reagal Cat (Reagal Eagle-Scat Cat), and Rosalba Rdrgz (Lota PYC-As Happy as a Girl).
