Stuart Barringer Passes Away
Stuart Phillip Barringer, 76, passed away on May 31 at his home in Oklahoma City. Barringer enjoyed rodeoing and bull dogging. He sold equine insurance at Prairie States Insurance company before working horse auctions. He
was married to his wife Wanda since 1973, and together they had three children. He is survived by his wife and children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
Dashin Follies Dies
Dashin Follies (Strawfly Special-Dashing Folly, First Down Dash) died at the age of 24 due to infirmities of old age at Haras Portofino in Brazil. The 1999 brown mare was lightly raced, but she was the producer of over $1.7 million with 41 foals, 34 starters, 24 winners, 25 ROM and 7 blacktype runners. Among her top foals were 4-time Graded stakes winner PYC Paint Your Wagon SI 107 ($889,581), leading sire of over $39.8 million,
and Grade 1 stakes placed Ivory James SI 103 ($220,026), leading sire of over $23.1 million. Dashin Follies is the grandam of Im Jess Special
V SI 93 ($523,863) and Jess D SI 91 ($245,157). She was bred by Henry E. Brown and trained by Donna MacArthur. Michael Pohl purchased the filly and bred her to Corona Cartel for her first foal
World Champion Danjer Dies
2021 World Champion Danjer (FDD Dynasty-Shez Jess Toxic, Take Off Jess) died June 18 on the backside of Ruidoso Downs from an aneurysm. Danjer also earned the Champion titles of 2021 Champion Aged Horse and Champion Aged Gelding, and 2020 Champion Aged Horse and Champion Aged Gelding. Danjer won 22 of 35 starts with 7 seconds and 3 thirds. He earned at total of $2,499,432, making him the #3 all-time money earner, with $230,364 earned in 2023. He
was consistently ranked among the top money earners and winners. This year, he won two of two starts in the Debbie Schauf Remington Park Invitational Championship-G1 and the Leo Stakes-G1, both at Remington Park. Danjer was a 2016 brown gelding owned by Dean R. Frey, Downtime Enterprises LLC and Billy G. Smith. He was bred and trained by Dean R. Frey.
Charlie Patterson Passes Away
Breeder/owner Charles Dean Patterson, 81, passed away on June 15 in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Charlie was born in Baytown, Texas, and he helped his parents in their bakery in his youth. He attended Lee College, was a paratrooper
with the U.S. Army, and rode bulls and
bareback horses. Charlie married Dixie in
1964. He worked as a land developer and
founded Southerland Communities, a land development business and title company. He
and Dixie owned a horse farm known as Foothills Farm where they bred racehorses. Charlie and Dixie bred leading sire Jesse James Jr (Mr Jess Perry-Loose Lips, First Down Dash), whom they owned with Tom Lipar, a stakes winner with $167,275 in earnings and the sire of over $22.5 million. They are the breeders of over $2 million and the owners of over $1.4 million. They bred and owned Morning Snow, earner of $367,702 and winner of the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity-G1 and Kindergarten Futurity-G1. Last year they
won the West Texas Maturity with Mitey Political ($185,355). Charlie and his family traveled to

Racing from two years of age to four, the 1960 black stallion earned $40,636 from 40 starts with 15 wins, 9 seconds and 5 thirds. He earned a 100 speed index and equaled the 400-yard track record at Arizona Downs. He won the 1962 PCQHRA Futurity, now known as the Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1 as well as the Bardella Handicap, Clabbertown G Handicap and State Fair Stallion Stakes.
Top Moon is the sire of 74 stakes winners, including World Champion and 4-Time Champion Moon Lark, winner of the 1978 All American Futurity-G1, Champion Stallion and Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Bugs Alive In 75, winner of the 1975 All American Futurity-G1. as well as Champion Top Bug, a 5-time stakes winner, and Champion Full Moon Zestee, a 2-time stakes winner.
This year, the winner of the $860,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1 on June 18 was unbeaten Political Rivalry (KVN Corona-Apolitical Zoom, Apollitical Jess), wire-to-wire under Rodrigo Vallejo for owner Keith Nellesen and trainer M. Heath Taylor.
