Ruidoso Downs Media Day Open House & Training Races Ruidoso, NM • May 9, 2018
Ruidoso Downs President and General Manager Jeff True welcomed attendees and spoke about the future of the track
at an open house for local officials, business owners and media members on May 9, a day that also included an opportunity to watch the two-year-old Quarter Horse training races.
“Our ownership group is made up of
four gentlemen from the business world and the horse racing industry,” True said. “They have been running and racing horses here for decades, but have come to this racetrack with the vision of rejuvenating it, with the vision of bringing it to a greater glory than it has experi- enced in the past.”
The new owners intend to stay for “the long haul” and many upgrades are being done to
the facility. A new roof on the third floor has been completed; a new receiving barn has been built; new security features have been added to the track and casino; a new chapel is being con- structed; and work continues on the paddock.
“This community and this racetrack have a symbiotic relationship,” True said. “We can’t do what we do here without what you do at your place of business or in your official office or in your activity of this area. We want to continue these partnerships. We rel- ish the cooperation.”
