Horse Racing Park Spends $1.3 Million On Ballot Initiative
A company that operated the now-closed horse racing track in Boise, Idaho, spent more than $1.3 million in an effort to get so-called “historical horse racing” on the November ballot. Most of the $1.34 million donated by Treasure Valley Racing went to paid signature- gatherers from Fieldworks LLC of Washington, DC. The committee needs 56,192 valid signa- tures from registered voters for the initiative to get on the November ballot.

Fair Grounds Opens 12th Off-Track-Betting And Video Poker Facility
Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots announced the opening of its 12th OTB
and casino in the New Orleans metropolitan area, with a projected $1 million in annual local/state tax and racing purse benefits. The Destrehan OTB and casino features 65 video poker games, a full-and self-serve Twinspires. com pari-mutuel horse wagering area featur- ing 16 large screen televisions, stadium style graduated seating for 26, and a quick-serve menu concession stand.
