Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity-G3
GOING NOBLE
by Michael Compton
Harrah’s Louisiana Downs wrapped up its 2018 Quarter Horse meet with an out- standing performance by Going Noble in the
$235,710 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity-G3 at Louisiana Downs on March 21.
With the meet’s leading rider Everardo Rodriguez aboard, the Mercy Hinklin’s Horse Farm homebred justified his odds-on favorit- ism as the fastest qualifier and left little doubt that the debut victory in his trial heat was just a sign of things to come.
Going Noble overcame an awkward break from the 9-post in the 300-yard main event, but still manged to leave the gates first.
The sorrel gelding lengthened his advan- tage through the lane and crossed the finish
1 1/4-lengths in front of his nearest pursuer, Patriotic Games, the second-fastest qualifier after also annexing his career debut in the trial to this event.
Going Noble stopped the timer in :15.258, earning a career high 102 speed index for trainer Lanny Keith.
“Whew, that break was something, but Everardo did an excellent job correcting him,” Keith said following his charge’s powerful effort. “He’s one fast colt.”
Going Noble’s record remains unblemished in two starts, which includes the March 3 trials where the gelding won his heat wire-to-wire for the fastest qualifying time.
The $107,141 winner’s share of the purse boosted his total bankroll to $109,541.
Keith reported that Going Noble will be pointed to the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity
at Delta Downs later this summer.
Mercy Hinklin’s Horse Farm LLC bred Going Noble out of winner A Noble Jess Elie, who was runner-up in the 2013 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity-G3 and the Old South Futurity. She was also a finalist in the 2013 Firecracker Futurity-G2 with earnings of $58,220.
A Noble Jess Elie is a half-sister to graded stakes placed Valid Expectations. Going Noble is the first foal out of A Noble Jess Elie.
His second dam is winner Legendary Seis, who was a finalist in the TQHA Sale Futurity-RG1.
Under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, second-fastest quali- fier Patriotic Games (First Down Dash-Miss Game Tee) finished second for owner Ramiro Jaime Flores Sr. and trainer Eduardo Morales. The $38,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate earned $40,476 for the attempt.
Capitan De La Playa (Captain Courage-Babe On The Beach) and Jose Martinez
also closed with a rush to finish third for owners Roberto and Augustin Hernandez and trainer Saul Ramirez Jr. The $20,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate earned $23,810. Capitan De La Plata was second in his trial to Going Noble.
Fivebarlove (Five Bar Cartel- Jessanoldlove), Waving Cartel (The Louisiana Cartel-Shoc Wave), Rock Winners Jese (Rock Solid Jess-Cashin Winners), JLC First Prize Elva (SS Samson-Ms Classic Jones TB), Empryo (Dominyun-Sizzling Lola) and KR Mr Winter (Carters Cartel-I Bee Phia) completed the order of finish. Parti Wagon was scratched.
