Dash For Cash, inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 1997, was from the third set of King Ranch Thoroughbred mares that B.F. Phillips Jr. used in his breeding program. Dash For Cash has progeny earnings of nearly $40 million. Dash For Cash is the sire of 18 AQHA Champions.
The King Ranch developed the Santa Gertrudis and Santa Cruz breeds of cattle. Buster Welch is shown here working cattle aboard Peppy San Badger, or “Little Peppy,” a son of Mr San Peppy.
Welch trained and showed Peppy San Badger, a leading sire of NCHA competition cutting horses with progeny exceeding $26 million, as well as AQHA World Champion/2- time NCHA World Champion/ multi-million dollar sire Mr
San Peppy. Buster Welch was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2004.
First Down Dash, inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2011, is the all-time leading sire of Champions with 37 as well as the all-time leading sire of money earners with nearly $87 million. Dash For Cash was the all-time leading Quarter Horse sire until he was surpassed by his son, First Down Dash.
