EYESA SPECIAL SNOOPI
by John Moorehouse
Eyesa Special Snoopi added black type to his career resumé on July 28 at Wyoming Downs, winning the $34,000 Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity.
The two-year-old gelding secured his second win in five outs in this race. Home-bred by the Broken Bones Cattle Company, he now has earned $22,074, capturing a $15,980 prize in the Ron Cook.
The second-fastest qualifier from the July 14 trials, Eyesa Special Snoopi was the class of the field, leading at every call of the 330-yard race. The gelding broke on top from the 5-hole, led by a neck at first call, widened the gap to 1/2-length as he reached the stretch, and doubled that advantage to a full length by the time he hit the wire.
Jesse Villegas trains Eyesa Special Snoopi, who finished the race in :16.492 to register a 105 speed index. That was four-tenths better than his :16.892 effort in the trials. Oscar Cervantes was in the irons for the stakes-winning run. It was the gelding’s second try in stakes company; he previously placed fifth in the Wyoming All Breeds Racing Association Futurity, held in June at Energy Downs.
The Broken Bones Cattle Company also home- bred unraced Lil Charolette Swirl. Eyesa Special Snoopi is her first starter.
Gotta Lotta Papa (Pappasito-Lotta Kat Moves) finished second for owners Ron Moosman and Kathy Moosman. The Riley Moosman trainee had Jesus Valenzuela aboard. Another Villegas trainee, Reagal Eagle Revenge (Reagal Eagle-A Secret Life) finished third under Cordarelton Benn for owner Gerald Kaul.
A Lucky Thunder Cat (Red Storm Cat-Lucky
TR), Ole Toole Man (One Handsome Man-Jos Jody
O Toole), CD Makin Us Proud (Maknmoves-Double Otta), Jims Highlite (Pappasito-Josie Bassett), Jess Frilly (Adashofjess-Silver Frills) and Steffies Dashn Moves (Maknmoves-Steffiesclassic Dash) completed the finishing order. Version Star was scratched.
Utah Bred Futurity
KVN LITTLE SISTER
by John Moorehouse
KVN Little Sister posted the first stakes win of her career with relative ease, going gate to wire in the $23,500 Utah Bred Futurity held at Wyoming
Downs on July 27.
Riley Moosman trains KVN Little Sister, who
came into the race as the top qualifier and the even- money favorite after finishing her 350-yard trial in a field-best :17.675 on July 13. Her time in the stakes final nearly equaled it—only eight-thousandths of a second slower, to be precise.
Jesus Valenzuela was aboard as KVN Little Sister broke on top from the inside gate, led by a head at the first call and got stronger with every stride, even- tually sporting a 1/2-length separation by the time she reached the finish line.
She now has three victories in four starts, and this marked her first triumph in stakes company. McColee Land and Livestock owns and bred KVN Little Sister, whose lifetime earnings stand at $21,209 with the addi- tion of the $11,162 prize from this futurity.
KVN Little Sister has strong bloodlines. She is a full sister to Champion KVN Corona and her dam, whom also is owned by McColee Land and Livestock, is stakes winner Executive Looks.
Jaj Piranha (The Crawfish-Romance By The River) out-nodded Its Moana Time (Turbulent Times-JP What You Say) for runner-up honors. Justin and Amy Davis own Jaj Piranha, a Glade Van Tassell trainee who had Cordarelton Benn aboard. Its Moana Time is owned and trained by Jay Pitcher. Oscar Cervantes had the riding call.
The remaining order of finish was There
Goes My Girl (Coronado Cartel-Stoli Girl), Ikes
R Hero (Mighty B Valiant-RF Carrie Okie), Quickluckybunny (One Handsome Man-Stone Quick Shot) and Mississippi Queen (Corona Cartel- Louisiana Corona). Josies Eye, Smooth Movin Cartel and Turbulent Eyes were scratched.
