leading money earners in the current year by Tempting Dash are Aint She Tempting, winner of the 2020 Remington Park Futurity-G2, and Hotsempting, winner of the 2020 Ruidoso Derby-G1.
Leocita is a daughter of Leo, and thus we are back to Rocket Bar/Joe Reed P-3 cross. This brings the blood of Bonnie Joe back into the mix. Bonnie Joe is the sire of Joe Blair, the sire of Joe Reed P-3. The dam of Leocita is Oncita, a daughter of Band Play, a son of Band Time by High Time - the stallion with the 3x3x2 breeding pattern to Domino.
Miss Ginger Gay is next on our list and she won eight of her 43 starts with six seconds and seven thirds. She earned $6,164. She is the dam of eight foals, six starters and three ROM. Her one stakes winner is Gay’s Delight by Rocket Bar, who won the 1967 Inaugural Handicap and 1967 Juvenile Championship.
Gay’s Delight is the dam of 15 foals, 13 starters, 11 ROM and five stakes winners, including: Chick’s Delight, winner of the 1972 Sugarloaf Futurity; Chicks Gay, winner of the 1973 Twin Sister Futurity; Tiny’s Gay, winner of the 1974 Kansas and Rainbow Futurities; Go Gay, winner of the 1978 QROA Derby; and Top Moons Gay, winner of the John Phillips Handicap. The daughters of Gay’s Delight have produced such stakes winners as What Lucks Delight, Wrangler Chicgay, Lucks Gay Chic, Hempens Chicgay and What Lucks Gay Chic.
Tiny’s Gay was not only a stakes winner, but also the 1974 World Champion as well as the
Champion 2 Year Old and Champion 2-Year- Old Colt. Tiny’s Gay lived only a short life, but he has shown to be an important ingredient in the modern pedigree. You will find him in such pedigrees as One Famous Eagle, Merganser, Cold Cash 123, Flying Cowboy 123, Jess Good Candy, Dash Ta Fame, and many more too numerous to mention here.
Tiny’s Delight, a race winning full sister to Tiny’s Gay, is the dam of AQHA Dam of Distinction Our Third Delight. She counts among her foals: Tres Seis, the 2001 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt; Dean Miracle, the 1998 Champion Aged Stallion; and stakes winner Our Casanova.
Fortune Of Delight, a stakes winning daughter of Our Third Delight, is an AQHA Dam of Distinction and the dam of five stakes winners in Champion A Delightful Dash, Champion Hes My Dasher, A Delightful Legacy, Buckshot Delight, and Indeed A Delight. A Delightful Legacy, out of Fortune Of Delight, is the dam of three stakes winners in Champion Inseperable, Separate Interest and Tell Of The Past.
Miss Ginger Gay is by Palleo Pete by Leo. Her dam is Osage Star Lady by Osage Star by Oklahoma Star. This takes us back to the Bonnie Joe connection which has been a common theme in our look at the influence of Rocket Bar. Then we see that Ginger Gay, the dam of Miss Ginger Gay, is by Bob E
by Flying Bob by Chicaro. Another cross that has been pretty common in our look at Rocket Bar. Then we realize all three of these
Mares sired by
TINKY POO (pictured) when crossed with Rocket Bar show success through runners such as Champions Mr Tinky Bar (Rocket Bar-Tinkys Lady, Tinky Poo) and Nug Rock (Rocket Bar-Tinkys Nugget, Tinky Poo).
mares crossed on Rocket Bar carry a version of the Bonnie Joe/Domino influence.
But before we leave, let’s look at one more horse and put what we have learned about Rocket Bar into perspective when it comes to the tail female line. Hotsempting, the 2020 Ruidoso Derby-G1 winner, is by Tempting Dash from the Three Bars sire
line through Dash For Cash to Rocket Bar. Tempting Dash is out of A Tempting Chick from the tail female line of Leocita through Quincy Rocket. The dam of Hotsempting
is Pandorum by Tres Seis, who traces in the tail female line to Miss Ginger Gay through Gay’s Delight. Daring Diversion, the dam
of Pandorum, is by Strawfly Special who is out of Fly In The Pie out of Flying Rockette by Rocket Bar. Flying Rockette is out of Fly Straw by Jackstraw TB. Here is an interesting pedigree note on Jackstraw. He is by Silver Horde, who is out of Silver Beauty, who is out of Jeanne Bowdre by Luke McLuke. The dam of Jackstraw is Absurdity by Pagan Pan by Luke McLuke. Jeanne Bowdre and Pagan Pan are full brother and sister. This gives us some more of that Luke McLuke influence on the dam’s side of the pedigree and another interesting cross for Rocket Bar and the Domino influence through Luke McLuke.
We have seen Rocket Bar as a racehorse,
a sire, a broodmare sire, a major contributor to the Three Bars sires line and now as an influence in the tail female line. Where would our racing world be without Rocket Bar?
