Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale
July 23-24, 2020 Preliminary Results

The 24th annual Texas Quarter Horse Asso- ciation Yearling Sale was held July 23-24 in San Antonio, Texas. With a record attendance, the sale closed with increases across the board – in gross, average and median. All yearlings are also eligible for the 2022 TQHA Sale Futurity-RG2.
The first yearling sale of the year saw 184 horses sell over two days out of the 242 offered. Gross sales reached $4,373,000, an incred-
ible increase from the 2020 sale in which 164 horses sold for $2,825,600. The average price of $23,766 was up 28% from last year, and the $18,500 median price increased 35% compared to 2020. Also, the RNA rate was down from 28% last year to 24% this year.
“Wow, what a sale! Record attendance,” stated outgoing TQHA Executive Director Val Clark. “A huge thank you to both consignors, buyers and the entire team for putting on such an amazing sale. We appreciate all of you.”
Hip #201, St Pats Hocks (Kiss My Hocks-St Pats Tea, Mr Jess Perry), was the sale topper at $115,000. Consigned by Tyler Graham, Agent, the sorrel colt was purchased by Marcos Galvan. St Pats Hocks is sired by a Champion, out of a stakes winner, and is
a sibling to three stakes winners including Bodacious Dash ($756,495).
The second highest seller at $110,000 was Hip #202, Escapaydz (Moonin The Eagle-Ny- meria, Bigtime Favorite). Consigned by Bobby D. Cox, the bay filly was purchased by Melvin Neugebauer. She is sired by a Champion and is a first foal out of a stakes winning half-sister to Champion Duponte ($921,237).
The leading buyer was Marcos Galvan, purchasing four horses for a total of $240,500. The second leading buyer was Rachuan Suarez, purchasing five horses for $209,000.
The leading consignor/agent was Bobby
D. Cox, selling 11 horses for $662,000. The second leading consignor/agent was Tyler Gra- ham, Agent, selling 12 horses for $560,500.
The leading sire by average with two or more yearlings sold was One Famous Eagle with three head selling for an average of $58,667. The second leading sire by average with two or more yearlings sold was Kiss My Hocks with six horses selling for an average of $54,500.
