by Michael Cusortelli
Shesa Relentless Gal, owned by MRB Racing LLC, broke her maiden in the $100,000 Rainbow Juvenile at Ruidoso Downs on July 25.
Ridden by Raul Herrera, Shesa Relentless Gal covered 400 yards in :19.689 on a sloppy and sealed track, and her margin of victory was a 1/2-length over Miss Beth Dutton. Manuel Rodolfo Rodriguez saddled the filly, who earned the $42,000 winner’s share of the purse.
Shesa Relentless Gal was coming off of a second-place finish, 3/4-lengths behind CC Hocks in a 400-yard Rainbow Futurity-G1 trial on July 9.
Campaigned in two states, Shesa Relentless Gal has won one of four starts and has earned $46,706.
The filly began her career with a second-place finish in a 330-yard Remington Park Futurity-RG1 trial on April 2.

A Real Man and A Cartel Fling, the winner of the 2008
Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Derby-RG3 at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.
Miss Beth Dutton (Kiss My Hocks-Time For Jess) banked the $18,000 runner-up share of the purse for her owners, Conda Maze and Judy Maze. The filly was ridden by Jorge Torres for trainer Clint Crawford.

RACING NEWS
        HOLD ON IM GONE
by Tracy Gantz
The Crooked River Roundup began as a rodeo in 1945, with racing added in 1966. That year pre-printed betting tickets were sold through windows cut into the back of the grandstand. Sales had to be hand-counted by volunteers, and the tote board was actually a chalkboard used to calculate the odds.
The rodeo and the racing have come a long way since then. Although it didn’t make stakes, the biggest race of the 2021 Crooked River Roundup in Prineville
was the $11,400 Jack
Rhoden Memorial for 3 year
olds and up at a distance of
250 yards.
Hold On Im Gone, who began her racing career at Los Alamitos, captured the Jack Rhoden Memorial.
Eight lined up for the race, with multiple stakes- placed Warhock sent away as the 19-10 favorite. Hold On Im Gone, ridden by Jose
Figueroa, went off as the 6-1 fourth choice. When the gate opened, Hold On Im Gone
was out of the 6-hole in second place and immediately vied for the lead.
Battling throughout the contest, the bay filly stuck her nose out in front at the wire to win in :13.416 for a 95 speed index.
Roberto Herrera owns and trains Hold On Im Gone. The filly initially started five times at Los Alamitos when owned by Ruben
Magallanes, and she finished in second place three times and third once.
Hold On Im Gone broke her maiden at Grants Pass Downs in 2019 when making her first start at that track. She also finished fourth in the Baxter Andruss Oregon Bred Futurity. Herrera has campaigned Hold On Im Gone for the past two years.
