1,131 racing Register of Merit, 64 stakes winners, 4 AQHA Racing Champions
and 1,023 race winners. They won $11,424,916. His success as a sire made him a member of the AQHA Hall of Fame with his induction in 2015.
The success of Azure Te as a sire tells us that he was able to cross with many mares from assorted bloodlines. But when we breakdown some of his runners, we find some interesting combinations with the mares to which he was bred. We will focus on some of those crosses.
The first crop for Azure Te had only two foals born in 1968 as documented
by the AQHA. One of them was actually
a Thoroughbred. Azure Te Dotty was
the Quarter Horse and his only starter. She earned an ROM with two wins in
six starts. Her dam was Dotty Kay by Clabber, the first stallion to be named the AQHA Racing World Champion in 1940. Azure Te Dotty was bred by Joe Moreno and Joe Stewart. The second crop in 1969 saw 26 foals registered with 17 starters,
14 racing ROM, and four stakes winners - and as they say, the Azure Te foals were off to the races.
Clabber, the first stallion to be named AQHA World Champion in 1940, was the damsire of Azure Te’s first starter.
Hall of Famer Depth Charge, Azure Te’s half-brother.
