                 Wells bred Tell Cartel in California from 21-year-old Chicks Tell. The mare raced for Wells and won the 2002 Huntington Beach Handicap at Los Alamitos.
Chicks Tell has produced 24 winners in 31 starters for progeny earnings of more than $1 million. Of those runners, Forrest Fire and My Favorite Cartel won stakes, while Red Hawk Chick was stakes-placed, as were Chicks Fayvorite, Chicks Cocktail, and Tough To Tell.
Dr. Steve Burns’ homebred You Can Run (Favorite Cartel-You Can Fly) finished a close second under jockey Jesus Ayala for trainer Mike Cassleman. The gelding last year ran second in the Los Alamitos Juvenile Invitational Stakes.
Burns also bred third-place Mental Error (Favorite Cartel-Iba Quick Chick), owned by Bobby Simmons. Ramon Sanchez rode the colt for trainer Paul Jones. Mental Error finished second in the 2019 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity-G2.
