2019 Record: 6-4-1(1)-0, $33,992, 2nd Paul Harber Mem.
D Railed comes from a long line of talented Appaloosa racehorses. His pedigree is rich in Appaloosa history, much of it shepherded by Jeff Adams, his owner and breeder.
Adams, who lives in Durant, Oklahoma, acquired Utah-bred Perfect Intention, the second dam of D Railed, after that mare produced the Appaloosa Hall of Fame racehorse You R My Sunshine to the cover of Quarter Horse stallion Corona Cartel. Adams raced
You R My Sunshine, a multiple Appaloosa Champion, multiple stakes winner, and earner of $159,171. She came from the program
of David Nemelka’s Wagon Wheel Ranch, managed by Appaloosa Hall of Fame trainer Jeannie Hullinger.
Adams bred Perfect Intention to the Quarter Horse stallion Feature Mr Jess
and got Jess Streakin, an Oklahoma-bred stakes winner and earner of $57,343. Jess Streakin in turn produced D Railed, an Oklahoma-bred son of Quarter Horse stallion Freighttrain B, for Adams.
Jess Streakin has become a prolific producer of Appaloosa racing Champons, with seven bronze medallion winners to
date. The mare’s runners, all bred by Adams, include Jess Cuz, a full sister to D Railed who won the 2018 Colors of the Wind Stakes and earned a total of $83,422.
Dee Keener trains D Railed for Adams, who grew up showing horses and galloping racehorses. At two in 2017, D Railed won the Colors of the Alamo Futurity at Retama Park, defeating DTL Samureye, who was named the 2019 Paint World Champion Running Horse.
D Railed, who has been the South-Central Regional Champion for two years, was named the Champion Appaloosa 3-Year-Old Gelding in 2018. That year he won three races and finished second to DTL Samureye in the Don Drake Memorial at Will Rogers Downs.
For his Horse of the Year season in 2019, D Railed again won three races—one at Remington and two at Will Rogers. Also at Remington, he ran second to his old nemesis, DTL Samureye, in the April 12 Paul Harber Memorial Handicap.
In addition to being named Horse of the Year for 2019, D Railed earned the title of Champion 4 and Older Gelding. His lifetime record stands at eight wins, four seconds, and one third in 21 starts for earnings of $78,551.
D Railed and Jose Vega win the Colors of the Alamo Futurity.
