FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Members,
The Incentive Award checks were mailed out by U.S. Bank on Tuesday, November 14th. The award sheet showing what each place
paid in the four categories can be found on
our website and in our newsletter. Because of the timing, we do not have the award sheet
to include in this issue of our magazine. Remember to cash your checks within one year. After that the check will be voided and the funds revert back into the award accounts for the next year’s distribution. If you have any checks written in 2022 or earlier, they are no longer valid. If you did not receive a check in
November of 2023 that you were expecting, please call the office so that we can look into it and possibly reissue you a new one.
Congratulations to Mac & Janis Murray of MJ Farms for winning the first million- dollar New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity with Bella De Ball! It was actually $1,208,668.86 to be exact and is the largest state bred futurity in the country. What an exciting race that was and what a fun day we had at the Downs At Albuquerque! There was a total of five New Mexico Bred stakes races that day. Congratulations to all the connections of the winners of the NMSF QH Derby (the largest purse for state bred three- year-olds in the country at $435,209.58), the NMSF TB Futurity, the NMSF QH Juvenile, and the NMSF QH Sophomore. Thanks to everyone who worked to make this happen.
Congratulations also to all the connections of the winners of the New Mexico Cup races that were held on Sunday, November 26th for the Quarter Horses and Monday, November 27th for the Thoroughbreds at Zia Park. This is the first year that these races were run on two days instead of one and Zia Park made sure that the overnight races that ended up being run on those days were all for New Mexico Breds as well.
Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024. The time and place are to be determined and we will get
you that information as soon as we can. The Mail In Ballots are being mailed out on the
3rd Monday in December and will be due
back with a postmark of no later than the
3rd Monday in January. You must sign your ballot in the designated area at the bottom of the form. The ballot will have the member’s name printed on it so only that member can use that ballot to vote. If your ballot is not signed or is postmarked after the deadline, it will not be counted. Please be sure to use the envelope provided and do not include anything else in the envelope. They will not be opened until January 25th at the Annual Meeting.
If someone submits their membership after
the 3rd Monday in December or misses the deadline to return their ballot, they may vote in person at the Annual meeting. We will not be accepting ballots by email or fax.
Happy Holidays!
