     The 44th annual Heritage Place Yearling Sale was held Sept. 23-24 in Oklahoma City. This year’s sale finished with increases across the board. The sale saw 584 horses sell with gross receipts of $22,619,200, which is a 6% increase from 2021’s record gross. The 2-day average of $38,732 was a 14% rise from last year’s $33,887.
During the sale, 39 yearlings broke
the six figure mark with two surpassing $500,000, setting a record second day sale average of $43,405.
“We appreciate all the consignors, buyers and staff for another great sale,” said Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney.
The highest seller at $515,000 was Hip
#593 Maxximumm (KVN Corona-Lady Perry On Fire, Walk Thru Fire) consigned by Lazy
E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock LLC and purchased by Katherine Reilly. The gray colt is a half-brother to stakes placed Muy Bien Corona and out of a stakes- placed full sister to Champion Jess Walking Thru and a half-sister to Champion Sass Me Blue.
The second highest seller at $510,000 was Hip #618 B CN You (Kiss My Hocks-Glory Rider, Valiant Hero) consigned by 13 Racing LLC, Agent for Homer A. Hill Estate and purchased by Bobby D. Cox. The bay colt is a half-brother to Grade 1 stakes winner Jess B Glory and stakes placed B Me and B Boujee. He is out of a stakes winning full sister to stakes producing sire Mighty B Valiant.
Bobby D. Cox led all buyers, purchasing four yearlings for $1,005,000, while Rancho El Cabresto, Inc. led the consignors/agents with 18 yearlings selling for $1,768,000. Walk Thru Fire was the sale’s leading sire by average with three yearlings selling for an average of $96,667.
