Winning a second All American Futurity was very special for Taylor.
“The feeling that you have when you’re at the top of the game by winning the All American is like no other that I can describe,” said the trainer.
“It’s a team effort—there are many people and their horses that help make us successful,” Taylor continjued.
Holt and Jones bred Hes Judgeandjury in Oklahoma out of the mare Crazy Down Corona, who has produced five winners in eight starters, including stakes-placed Cartel Envy and Lotas First. The mare has a weanling colt by Flying Cowboy 123, and Holt says he has a full sibling to Empressum (by Apollitical Jess) coming for 2023.
Hes Judgeandjury won his Aug. 19 All
American Futurity trial and held the third overall qualifying position to the finals. The sorrel gelding previously won his maiden out on May 28 in the trials to the Ruidoso Futurity-G1, finishing third in those $1,000,000 finals. He next won his trial to the $1,000,000 Rainbow Futurity-G1 and finished fifth in the finals.
Sicario V (Favorite Cartel-Nymph), owned by Valeriano Racing Stables, trained by Santos Carrizales Jr., and ridden by Juan Pulido,
ran second. Those connections won the All American Derby-G1 with A Pollitical Candy V and the All American Juvenile with Rock A Jess V. Still a maiden, Sicario V has finished second three times and third once in five starts. The gray gelding is looking for his first victory.
Heath Taylor also trains third-place Chasing AJ (Apollitical Jess-Eye On This Candy). Holt owns the gelding with Charles Cox, Jack Powers, and Roger Moore. Chasing AJ, who was ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo, also qualified for and was a finalisit in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and Rainbow Futurity-G1.
Completing the field were Doing Something Good (Big Daddy Cartel-Start Somethin Bad), Orbyson (One Fabulous Eagle-Shazumba), KJ Leader Of the Pack (Jess Good Candy-Tres Veses), JP General (A Revenant-First Prize Shaunda), Curls Joyful Wagon (PYC Paint
Your Wagon-Eye A Spit Curl Girl), and Paige (Tempting Dash-Transaxle). Fastest qualifier Jes An Angel was scratched.
