2021 Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and was elevated to first when Miss Beth Dutton was disqualified for interference. Miss Beth Dutton went on to win the 2022 Rainbow Oaks-G1.
Soto took over Political
Thinker in time for the trials of
this year’s Ruidoso Derby-G1. He switched to rider Garcia for the Rainbow Derby-G1 trials, and Political Thinker finished second but did not qualify to the finals. The gelding then ran third in his All American Derby trial for Garcia prior to the All American Invitational.
McColee Land & Livestock bred Political Thinker in Utah from the graded stakes-placed First Down Dash mare Budder Think Twice. The mare has produced five winners in eight starters, including stakes-placed Budderlicous. Though not a winner, Budder Think Twice’s colt named K W was also stakes-placed. The second dam is graded stakes winner Budderly Effect.
One Slick V (One Valiant Hero-Silk Mountain) finished in second place for jockey Armando Cervantes, trainer Monty Arrossa, and owner Dunn Ranch. Earlier this year, the gelding won the Rainbow Invitational Stakes, and he was the fastest qualifier to the All American Invitational.
Jockey Francisco Calderon rode Jess Savin Candy (Jess Good Candy-Savin Grace) to third place. John Steinbaugh trains Jess Savin Candy for owner Dutch Masters III. The gelding won the 2021 Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and Rainbow Futurity-G1.
Rounding out the field were KJ Wildthang (Apollitical Jess-Wild Six), El Painted Eagle (One Dashing Eagle-Royally Painted), Lethal Jet (Volcom- Lethal Delight), Minecraft (Favorite Cartel-Miss Kittys Bar Bet), A Tres Of Eagle (One Fabulous Eagle-A Tres Of Paint), Special Apollitical (Apollitical Jess-Scouts Special Wagon), and
Chizum (Tempting Dash-Ms Eaves).
Noe Garcia, Jr. returns with Political Thinker to the Winner’s circle.
