La Fiesta Futurity
RESTRICTIONS
by Danny Camp
Restrictions has won three in a row since Carlos Guillen Chacon has taken over the riding assignment. The gelding was coming off
a two in a row win streak, including his Sept. 11 trial heat to the La Fiesta Futurity. He set the fifth fastest qualifying time for the 400- yard event. The finals were held at The Downs At Albuquerque and the race carried a total purse worth $282,499.
Restrictions and Carlos stepped away from the number five post with clear sailing ahead. Carlos went to work with the encouragement and hustle. They slowly started to pull away from the field and at mid-stretch they were a half length to the good. They crossed the line three quarters of a length in front, stopping the timer at :19.580 to earn a 93 speed index.
The bay gelded son of Seperate Interest also earned the first place check worth $142,676. His lifetime earnings now stand at $161,214 and his race record stands at four wins out of seven career starts.
