Covered Bridges Stakes-G3

old Brewster has won his last four out of five
races. His latest was the Covered Bridges Stakes-G3 held at Prairie Meadows on Sept. 17, an 870-yard stakes with a total purse worth $25,000.
It was a cloudy day and a sloppy and sealed track when the gelding loaded into the 1-post. When
the starter pushed the button, jockey Jonathan Dominguez went to work. They broke second and immediately took the lead, holding on around the turn. When they headed for home, Dominguez let his mount coast to a 2-length lead down the stretch and they finished the same way.
They stopped the clock at :45.396 to earn a 102 speed index. Cold Brewster earned the first place check worth $12,500. to up his lifetime earnings to $133,543, and his race record stands at nine wins in 29 career starts.
His team includes owner Austin Watterson and trainer Durk L Peery. He was bred in Oklahoma by Dustin Cox out of the Thoroughbred mare Crescent Shore. She made over $56,000 and has produced three foals, Cold Brewster is her best product.
RNC Cardshark Jones (The Card Shark 229-Dakota Jones TB) crossed the line in second place for owners Jane and Jim Leatherberry and trainer Robert D. Johnson. Armando Alvidrez was in charge of riding.
Faster Than Hasta (Hasta Be Fast- Leadmetoyourladder) crossed the wire in third place. Connections include owner The Estate of John G. Johnson and trainer Robert D Johnson. Ken Tohill was in the irons.
The remaining order of finish was Going To Hollywood (Heza Fast Dash-Alcea TB), Seb Ember (Walk Thru Fire-Wisestar TB), Hasta Be A Moose (Hasta Be Fast-Toast To Gypsy) and One Sweet Step (One Sweet Jess-Stepperupper TB). Katch This Eagle was scratched.

om Maher’s Apollitical Mogul broke sharply
and on the lead from her rail post and rolled to a wire-to-wire neck victory in the 330-yard Prairie Sprint Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Sept. 3.
Ridden by Ramiro Garcia for trainer Jason Olmstead, Apollitical Mogul posted a 102 speed index while tripping the timer in :16.578. The 6-year-old daughter of World Champion Apollitical Jess also banked the $10,800 winner’s share of the $20,000 purse.
Apollitical Mogul was shortening in distance off of her 4th-place finish in the 400-yard Q-Racing Video Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge-G3 on Aug. 20.
Raced in five states, Apollitical Mogul has
won 11 of 36 starts including six of 12 at Prairie Meadows and three of five at the 330-yard distance. She has earned $228,402. Her four career stakes victories include last year’s Prairie Sprint and
the Q-Racing Video Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge-G3.
The mare was bred in Texas by Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC, and she was acquired by Tom Maher and Bill Maher for $20,000 at the 2017 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City.
Apollitical Mogul is out of winner Cash Cartel, half-sister to East Derby Challenge-G3 winner
La Jolla Maid. Cash Cartel has produced 13 winners from 16 starters, including East Hi-Point Aged Stallion FDD Going Grand, winner of the Develop A Plan Stakes-G3, Old South Derby
and Evangeline Downs Dash, where he set a New Track Record. Apollitical Mogul is her third stakes winner and top earner.
Apollitical Mogul’s second dam, Maid For Cash, was a two-time stakes winner in central Texas in 1992 and has produced 100% winners from eight foals, all starters.
One Kool Dreamer (Hes Relentless-One Kool Wagon), the 8-5 favorite in the 5-horse field, finished second under jockey Stormy Smith for her owner Brenda Reiswig. Jaosn Olmstead trains the homebred 4-year-old mare.
Reiswig and Olmstead also were represented by third place finisher Kool And Fabulous (One Fabulous Eagle-One Kool Wagon). Armando Alvidrez rode the homebred 4-year-old mare.
Azola Baban (Lil Kool Wagon-Majestic Jet Black) and Shes Already Famous (Mr Jess Perry- Famous Corona Lady) completed the remaining order of finish.

r Michel became a multiple stakes winner with
his victorious effort in the 400-yard $110,173 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby, held at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Sept. 3.
A Claudio Barraza trainee, Mr Michel left little doubt in this one. The gelding broke from the 5-post and led by a head at the first call, then faded to third going into the stretch, only to make a commanding run to the wire – outrunning his rivals to reach the finish line first by a 1/2-length margin. Erik Esqueda was aboard for the run, completed in :20.269 for an 85 speed index.
Alberto Valadez owns the sophomore gelding, who has six wins in 12 career starts and now has been to the winner’s circle two times this season. He also won last year’s running of the Miss Roxie Little Futurity at this same track, finished third in the 2021 Jaguar Rocket Futurity, and placed second in the Blue River Derby back in July.
Mark Michel bred Mr Michel out of Lovemelikethat, a 2008 mare whom he also owns. Lovemelikethat was a successful competitor herself, winning 3 stakes events as part of a 8-6-4 record in 19 outs that accumulated nearly $278,000 in prize money.
Ah One Special Wave (One Sweet Jess-Special Wave) had the lead going into the stretch but settled for second under Cesar Esqueda for owner/trainer Ron Raper. Keens Blood (Apollitical Blood-Keen Liaison) was third for owner Connie Black and trainer Erin Thompson. Jose Ruiz was in the irons.
Followed by Hejfund (Ivory James-Jess Shakem), Good Time Stoli (Duponte-A True Stoli), Kenoma (Mr Ease Cartel-Bye Bye First Bird), Kiss Me At Midnight (Kiss My Hocks-Midnight Cartel), BV Blaze Of Glory (BV Travelin Soldier-Tempting Jolie), and Fabulous Barbara (One Fabulous Eagle-Send A Candy Tree). BV Blaze of Glory was disqualified from fifth to eighth. Jesses Beach scratched.
