surprised the oddsmakers on Sept. 24 at Lone Star Park, winning the $40,000 Karen Utecht Memorial Stakes for Paints and Appaloosas.
Sarah Huskey owns Just Wishn, a four-year-old gelding who notched his second win of the season and his sixth victory in 13 career starts. Trained by Esteban Rubio, Just Wishin made a strong rally in this one. The gelding broke from the 8-hole and was running third at the first call. Rider Francisco Ramirez Jr. urged Just Wishn into the lead by a 1/2-length as he entered the stretch and the gelding held on to win by that same margin.

t’s been about a year since Republic Anne visited
the winner’s circle. But she paid a visit after the Q-Racing Video Arizona Downs Distaff Challenge, a 400-yard stakes held on Sept. 3.
Republic Anne loaded into the 9-post with the $65,624 purse in her sights and Martin Osuna in the saddle. When the starter said go, they got away in good shape and within a couple of jumps had a slight lead. At the halfway point, they were a head in front with Osuna using plenty of hustle. They crossed the line a neck in front, stopping the timer in :19.689 to earn a 103 speed index.
The daughter of Apollitical Jess also earned the first place check worth $30,187. That ups her lifetime earnings to $116,632, and her race record stands at six wins out of 23 career starts.
Her team includes owner Jose Antonio De Santiago and trainer Edwin A Martinez. She was bred in Texas by Bobby D Cox out of the mare First Fancy Racy, a ROM earner who made over $380,000 in her running days. The mare has produced eight foals and Republic Anne is her top earner.
Garavani (First Down Dash-Celtic Emblem) ran a gritty race to get up for second. Connections include owner Ricardo Ramirez and trainer Amy Nelson. Aaron Belloc was handling the reins.
The photo showed Elegant Tres (Tres Seis- Elegant Debut) in third place for owner Resilient Farms. Lillian N Silva is in charge of conditioning with Mark Jasso in the irons.
The remaining finish was Jess Zoomin Senator (Louisiana Senator-JZ Annie), ABC Nalaki (Apollitical Blood-Docs Check), Too Sass For You (Favorite Cartel-First Down Sass), World Famous Mia (One Famous Eagle-Send The Candy Wagon), First Lady Perry (Mr Jess Perry-First Lady Amber), Run Away And Hide (Run Away And Hide TB-Fodice). ister Bigg ran his way to his first-ever stakes
victory taking the $53,760 Arizona Downs Derby on Aug. 27.
Mister Bigg got to the winner’s circle for the third time in 13 career starts and the second time in five outs this season. Diego Creus, Mister Bigg’s owner, collected a $31,718 payday that nearly doubled his total earnings to $63,317.

by the time he entered the stretch and held off Hot
Girl Summer B to win by a neck. Trained by Heraclio Botello, Mister Bigg finished the derby in :19.511, posting a 108 speed index. That bested his :19.641 time in the trials, which stood third on the qualifying ladder.
