HES JUDGEANDJURY
H Wins the 2022 All American Futurity H By Larry Thornton
The All American Futurity is a hard race to qualify for and that lends credibility to its role as a premier race for two-year-old Quarter Horses. This year alone saw 305
two year olds compete in 32 trials with the top ten times from the two days of the trials getting to start in the finals. Something
that is even harder to do is qualify for the finals of all three All American Triple Crown races, which includes the All American Futurity-G1, Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and the Rainbow Futurity-G1. This year the Ruidoso Futurity had 309 starters in 30 trials and
the Rainbow Futurity had 333 starters in 24 trials. But only two horses made the finals
of all three races - Hes Judgeandjury and stablemate Chasing AJ.
Hes Judgeandjury was bred and is owned by Jeff Jones and Steve Holt, and Chasing AJ was bred by Don Griffin Jr. and is owned by Steve Holt, Charles Cox, Jack Powers and Roger Moore. Both runners were trained by Heath Taylor with Hes Judgeandjury ridden by James Flores in his All American Futurity victory. Chasing AJ was ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo, who rode both horses to qualify for the finals. Hes Judgeandjury won the race with Chasing AJ finishing third.
Hes Judgeandjury crossed the finish line in a time of :21.192 for the 440-yard race. He earned the winner’s purse of $1,492,347. The path to this win began with his first start in the trials to the Ruidoso Futurity with a win and then a third in the finals. He came back in the Rainbow Futurity trials to win his heat, but he finished the finals in fifth place. The
James Flores, shown celebrating with his parents Minnie and Jaime, guided Hes Judgeandjury to victory in the
All American Futurity.
