The Premio Garañones Derby had no consola- tion prize, so the Mexican Quarter Horse Association summoned the owners of the non- finalist specimens to register them in this race (considered a “Special Weight”) through the single payment of $20,000 pesos ($980 U.S. approx.) to be ran at 350 yards and with a purse of $171,300 pesos ($8,390 U.S. approx.).
Six runners were registered, and standing out among them was Juanito Y Danny with total earnings much higher than the rest, which places him as the highest money earning three-year-old colt at the Hipodromo de las Americas. However, in his trial he had as a rival Espejo Fusilero, who sent him to second place almost two-lengths apart.
On this occasion, he dominated the group as usual, under the command of José Ángel Ambrosio Medina, starting out from the 6-post. From the start, he took the lead and there he remained, and in the final 100 yards his close was impressive, achieving a 1 1/4-length advantage over BR Beduina Policy, who finished in second place.
He completed the 350 yards in :17.04 for a 97 speed index, notably improving the :17.34 of his trial that ran two weeks earlier. With this, his record is 8-2-1 in 12 attempts with earnings of 4,901,442 pesos. Among his successes are first places in the Subasta Selecta Futurity and in the Mexican Breeders Derby Challenge, as well as having placed second in the Mexico Derby and third in the Garañones Futurity.
He was bred by Cuadra La Presita, owner of the stallion Danny Cartel, and out of the mare Toles (by Ought To Be First), a cross that is con- firmed as successful by the results of her foals on the track. He is owned by Rancho El Suspiro, is trained by José Guadalupe García “Lupillo” and was saddled by trainer Ismael Ayala Salas.
As was already mentioned, in second place was BR Beduina Policy, sorrel daughter of Southern Corona out of Our Separate Chic (by Separatist), with the support of Mario Alberto López Marmolejo and the training of Ismael Parra Martínez. She is owned by the Cuadra Bronco Rider.
A member of the same connections mentioned above, the filly BR Estelar Dash captured third place under the guidance of Alejandro Almazán. She is the daughter of Southern Corona out of The Icy Queen (by First Down Dash).
BR Chamaco (Southern Corona- Jessaspecialeffort), Candy Down Eagle (Jabuti
Eagle SA-Candy Down Ryon) and Jabutt Bomb (Jabuti Eagle SA-Sake Bomb) completed the order of finish.

tuvo premio de consolación, por lo cual la Asociación Mexicana Cuarto de Milla, convocó a los propietarios de los ejemplares no finalistas a inscribirlos en esta carrera (considerada como “Special Weight”), mediante el pago único de $20,000 pesos ($980 US aproximadamente),
a efectuarse en 350 yardas y con un premio de $171,300 pesos ($8,390 US aproximadamente).
Seis corredores fueron inscritos, destacando entre ellos Juanito y Danny, con un récord muy superior al resto, que lo coloca como el tres añero con más dinero ganado al día de hoy en el Hipódromo de Las Américas. Sin embargo, en su trial tuvo como rival a Espejo Fusilero, que lo mandó a segundo lugar, a casi dos largos de diferencia.
Sin embargo, en esta ocasión se vio domina- dor del grupo como acostumbra, bajo el mando de José Ángel Ambrosio Medina y partiendo de la extrema posición 6. Desde el principio tomó la delantera y ahí se mantuvo, pero en las 100 yardas finales fue impresionante su cierre, log- rando ventaja de 1 largo y 1⁄4 sobre BR Beduina Policy, que finalizó en segundo lugar.
Recorrió las 350 yardas en 17.04 segundos para un SI de 97, mejorando notablemente los 17.34 de su trial que corrió dos semanas antes.
Con ello su récord queda en 8-2-1 en 12 intentos
y dinero por 4’901,442 pesos. Entre sus aciertos destacan el primer lugar en el Futurity Subasta Selecta y en el Derby Desafío
Crianza Mexicana, así como haberse colocado segundo en el Derby México y tercero en el Futurity Garañones.
Es crianza de Cuadra La Presita, propi- etaria del semental Danny Cartel y de la yegua Toles (por Ought To Be First), una cruza que se confirma como exitosa por los resultados
de sus hijos en la pista. Pertenece al Rancho
El Suspiro, es entrenado por José Guadalupe García “Lupillo” y ensillado por el entrenador Ismael Ayala Salas.
Como ya se mencionó, en segundo lugar con- cluyó BR Beduina Policy, potranca alazana hija de Southern Corona en Our Separate Chic (por Separatist), con el apoyo de Mario Alberto López Marmolejo y entrenamiento de Ismael Parra Martínez. Pertenece a la Cuadra Bronco Rider.
Integrante de las mismas conexiones arriba mencionadas, la potranca retinta BR Estelar Dash capturó el tercer lugar, bajo la guía de Alejandro Almazán. Es hija de Southern Corona en The Icy Queen (por First Down Dash).
