The Jan. 17-19 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City was packed
full of events for buyers and sellers alike, including the crowning of the 2012 AQHA Champions. Nearly 1,200 horses were consigned to the three-day event, which saw a slight decrease in numbers following two back- to-back record-setting Winter Mixed Sales in 2011 and 2012.
Preliminary results saw gross sales reach $8,740,600, an average price of $8,398 (exclud- ing repurchases), from 926 horses sold. In addi- tion, repurchases remained low at 127.
“We had a great crown on hand for the sale and we are looking forward to an exciting year in 2013,” stated Heritage Place Director of Operations Spence Kidney. “The 2013 Winter Mixed Sale finished strong with over 88% of the horses sold and a solid average from start to finish.
In keeping with the Winter Mixed Sale tra- ditional of being a strong broodmare sale, the top seller at $250,000 was Slighty Icy (Chicks Beduino-Icy Morn TB, Crowned Jewel). Consigned by Deverne Weston, Royal Vista Ranches LLC, Agent, the 2002 gray mare was purchased by MJ Ranch, Mary Jahnel. Slighty Icy is the dam of multiple stakes horses, includ- ing Rainbow Futurity-G1 winner Hes Too Icy For Me. She sold in foal to First Down Dash for a 2013 foal.
Preliminary results, including sale statistics broken down by foals in utero, yearlings, 2-year-olds, broomares, and mixed horses, can be found on page 113.
