World Champion Shue Fly and her connections. 2-time Champion Hard Twist.
by Arab by Sir Archy and Union was out of Rarity by Sir Archy. This gives Shiloh a 4x4x4 breeding pattern to Sir Archy. The dam of Old Billy was Ram Cat by Steel Dust. Steel Dust was sired by Harry Bluff by Short’s Whip by Kentucky Whip. Harry Bluff was out of Big Nance by Jackson. The dam of Martin’s Cold Deck was Alsup’s Rondo by Alsup’s Brimmer.
The dam of Dan Tucker was Lady Bug also known as Butt Cut. She was sired by Jack Traveler by Steel Dust. The dam of Jack Traveler was Queen by Pilgrim by Lexington. This is the Lexington that we saw above in our history of War Dance. Butt Cut was out of June Bug who was sired by Harry Bluff, or some pedigrees will show a son of Harry Bluff. The dam of June Bug was Munch Meg by Alford.
Nora M brings us back to Glencoe
as she was sired by Voltigeur, a stakes winner of the Clark Stakes and he was bred on the Belle Meade Stud. His
sire was Vandal by Glencoe. The dam
of Vandal was Sister To Lucy Lea by Tranby. The dam of Voltigeur was Duet by Highlander by Glencoe. The dam of Duet was Delta, who was sired by Priam and out of Gamma, the foundation mare for the Belle Meade Stud. Kitty Clyde is the dam of Nora M, and she was sired
by Star Davis by Glencoe. Star Davis
was out of Margaret Wood by Priam. This gives Nora M a breeding pattern of 3x4x3 to Glencoe and it also allows us
to show how the blood of Glencoe was a good nick for the Belle Meade Stud with Priam. It is noteworthy to acknowledge that Glencoe was noted for the success of his daughters. But this time we see that she is linebred to Glencoe through three of his sons. Although the male influence of Glencoe comes from his sire line through Vandal. The other two influences of Glencoe comes through daughters of Highlander and Star Davis.
We also see Kitty Clyde, who was out of Margravine, a daughter of Gabriella
by Sir Archy. When we look at both sides of the pedigree of Peter McCue, we get a breeding pattern of 9x9x7x9x9x8x8x7x7x5 to Sir Archy. Sir Archy was one of the most influential sires in both the American Quarter Horse and the Thoroughbred. We saw that with Lexington as his sire Boston was a grandson of Sir Archy in his sire line.
The blood of Peter McCue has proven to be a great asset in the development of the racing American Quarter Horse. A great example of
this comes through the legendary mare Shue Fly, a multiple Champion on the track including as a three-time World Champion from 1941 to 1943. She is officially sired by Cowboy P-12, who was sired by Yellow Jacket and out of Roan Lady by Stalks by John Wilkins and she was out of Bonnie Wilkens by John Wilkins, who was sired by Peter
his official race record, and he was like Peter McCue, successful on the fair circuit and as a match racehorse.
The sire of Dan Tucker was Barney Owens, who was sired by Martin’s Cold Deck. When you research history of this line of horses you will find two Cold Deck’s as one is listed as Old Cold Deck, and he is a son of a colt by Steel Dust. Martin’s Cold Deck was sired by Old Billy, the foundation sire of the South Texas line of Quarter Horses. Old Billy was sired by Shiloh, a son of Von Tromp by Thomas’s Big Solomon by Sir Soloman by Sir Archy. The dam of Shiloh is Shiloa by Union
