“When I first looked at Valiant Hero, I saw he had done extremely well as a racehorse, but I also thought he could produce performance horses.” – Lana Merrick-Bailey
Lana Merrick-Bailey is listed along with Kent Jackson as the breeders of these two mares, that are now in the Canadian River Quarter Horse broodmare band.
During our conversation, Lana was very supportive of the idea of looking at nicks when selecting a stallion. She
summarized it this way, “I think people should pay attention to nicks when they are breeding and look for those nicks where they have been successful. It is what is best for their mares.”
Our look at Valiant Hero has shown that he was a successful sire of racehorses
and now a proven sire of barrel horses. With that in mind I think we can safely say Lana Merrick-Bailey was there from the beginning giving Valiant Hero support in his early career as a sire. A sire of racehorses and as a crossover sire to
barrel racing.
