Premio Revista Horse MX
FEUTURE HORSE
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
The last day of the 2021 racing season at
the Hipódromo de Las Américas was held on Dec. 12, with 11 races, the first of which is dedicated to Horses MX Magazine, which in its first five editions has shown that it covers the information and communication space that was left in the Mexican equestrian industry by the defunct Revista A Caballo.
It was an open race for three-year-old Quarter Horse runners that paid $15,000 pesos of registration ($710 U.S. approx.), plus the contribution of $70,000 pesos ($3,312 U.S. approx.), by the Mexican Administrador of the Hipódromo.
Six runners met such conditions, three of them bred in Mexico and three in the United States; the prize of the race was $151,000 pesos ($7,145 U.S. approx.), to be disputed at 350 yards.
The field was made of six horses with proven ability in classic competitions, highlighting Juanito Y Danny, Easy Perry Cartel, Feuture Horse and DF Favorite Ms Pilot.
It was an excellent start for all, with Feuture Horse (#1) getting the most opportunity by
immediately taking the lead of the group under the excellent command of José Ángel Ambrosio Medina. They
made their run very close to
the inside rail, to cross the finish line 1 1/4-length in front of the filly DF Favorite Ms Pilot, who finished in second under the direction of Edgar Eduardo García. They exhausted the distance in :17.18 for a 93 speed index.
Feuture Horse is a
three-year-old gelding bred
by Salomé Gallegos, owner
of the stallion Sea Horse
Corona and the mare Feature
Bye Jess (by Dashin Bye). He is the property of Cuadra Cartas Blancas, where he is trained by José Eduardo Baltazar Carmona.
This is his fifth win in 11 starts, as well as two seconds and a third place. He was a finalist in the Garañones Futurity and Subasta Selecta Futurity, and it should be noted that in his debut, he set the
current Track Record for 300 yards in :14.804. With this triumph he closed his second season on
the track, where he also placed second in the Anselmo Aguilar Payán Classic and in the Garañones Derby.
Special guests at the awards were Miguel Juárez, Lorena Picazo, Alejandro Villaverde, Dr. Daniel Hernández, Elliot León
and Guadalupe Franco, main members of the editorial team of Horses MX Magazine, who awarded the winning horse and team.
DF Favorite MS Pilot (Favorite Cartel-Ms Perrys Pilot, Mr Jess Perry)
placed second under Edgar Eduardo García. She belongs to the Cuadra Los Arrallanes and was saddled by Hugo Estrada López. On Oct. 10, he won the first Alfredo Castro Rea Derby.
Juanito Y Danny (Danny Cartel-Toles, Ought To Be First) finished in third place
