Creative women win honors at the Douglas County Fair

Jeanne Gormley, a resident of Surrey Ridge, won 1st place for her photo in the senior division at the 2017 Douglas County Fair. The photo (pictured above) is of Gormley’s daughter Jeanna Ambrose and Cecilia Fries, Ambrose’s granddaughter. Photographed from behind a curtain, the photo was tender and unique.
The Champion Small Machine Quilt award went to JJ Rose, who also lives in Surrey Ridge. The quilt also won the viewer’s choice award. The beautiful quilt is incredibly intricate and colorful. Rose won several other blue ribbons for her exquisite quilted entries.
Congratulations to two remarkably artistic ladies!
