Fetal Head Measurements Head Circumference
The head circumference can also be obtained by measuring the occipitofrontal diameter and taking an outer-to-outer diameter measurement at the level of the BPD.
Some authors suggest that the head circumference measurement is typically more accurate than BPD because this measurement is independent of the fetal head shape, consequently providing a more consistent parameter for estimating gestational age.
