CEREBRAL MALFORMATIONS AGENESIS OF THE CORPUS CALLOSUM AND CAVUM SEPTUM PELLUCIDUM
¢The corpus callosum is a bridge of tissue located within the midline of the brain that connects the two cerebral hemispheres.
It functionally provides a pathway for communication between the hemispheres and is completely formed by 18 weeks.
¢The cavum septum pellucidum, located inferior to the corpus callosum, and the corpus callosum develop at the same time.
¢The congenital lack of these structures is termed agenesis, as in agenesis of the corpus callosum, and cavum septum pellucidum.
