Adam Booker aka Albert Cook
Albert Cook was born Adam Booker to James Booker and his wife Alberta Robinson. Together they
had 3 children possibly 4. I have not been able to confirm that our father had a twin sister. There is a reference in a family reunion book that Adam had a twin sister. This I know for sure he had 2 older broth- ers Jessie and James Booker who were in fact twins. Alberta gave birth to 4 sons that we all knew, Freddie Felton the oldest of her children, he was from a previous relationship. I have not been able to confirmed
if she was married before marry Jim Booker (James Booker was often called Jim instead of James). Our father Adam was born March 8, 1932, but sadly his mother died April 4, 1932 due to labor pneumonia. This is where Adams’ story gets a little mysterious, so from what I have gathered he was raised as Adam Booker by his Aunt Jessie Stalling and her husband Edgar until her death, Adam was about between 14 or 15 years old. Adam grew up at first thinking his cousins were his brother and sisters. However, they in fact his first cousin Lamar Cook (Chester Cook was the father of Lamar), Justine Stalling and Carolyn. He went to live with his Aunt Eunice (another of his mom’s sisters) and her family where he was not treated well and so he ran away and eventually ended up in the home of Chester Cook. This is when his name got changed to Albert Cook to secure work and this is something he wanted because he often told us Chester Cook treated him like one of his own children.
Ihave discovered the names and places were his and our ancestors came from at least here is the United States. I have
traced origins so far to Louisiana and Missis- sippi with the Bookers, Montgomery, Robin- son, Marshall, Parker, Williams, and Yank- away.
