What isTraumatic Incident Reduction
(TIR)?
TIR is a rapid (compared to traditional therapy) method of effectively reducing traumatic stress from emotionally and/or physically painful events in the past. It involves reviewing past traumas in a completely safe environment, free from distractions, judgements or interpretations. TIR aims to completely resolve the impact and significance of trauma so that the memory of such an experience is rendered benign and permanently incapable of subsequent re-triggering and painful emotional arousal. A successful intervention with TIR will leave the person entirely free of trauma related symptoms and sensitivities, and without the need for
day-to-day coping strategies, alcohol, drugs, or prescription medications.
Life Incidents which may be successfully resolved by TIR include;
Abuse / Assault Bereavement
Violent Crime
Traumatic Childbirth Diagnosis of Terminal Illness Trauma
Dreaded Future Events Relationship Difficulties Redundancy /Dismissal Sexuality & Gender Issues Accidents
Work related Concerns
People who are aware of the traumatic events that affect them are the most obvious ones likely to benefit from TIR. However, TIR can also be used very effectively with people who suffer from unwanted feelings, emotions, sensations, attitudes or pains (FESAP's) but are not necessarily aware of any specific traumas that could have caused them.
