Innovative Nanomechanical Testing Techniques
Source: Coherent Scientific Pty Ltd
The TriboIndenterTM and PicoIndenterTM product range from Bruker NanoIndentation Instruments (formally Hysitron) are the world’s most trusted platforms for precision nanomechanical testing. All instruments provide unmatched, guaranteed low noise performance, increasing test precision, accuracy and repeatability.
Providing over 10 decades of useable, reliable force range (from 1nN to 10N) and an unmatched environment test flexibility, Bruker‘s TriboIndenterTM standalone indentation platforms can be configured with the xSol range of environmental stages that offer testing at the extremes of science, with a temperature range
from -150oC to +800oC, measurement in
air, inert gas, liquid or electrochemical environments. The test location can be easily found by precision optically guided positioning, or high resolution in-situ
SPM imaging, allowing the most precise test placement of every indent. Identify and test individual grains and material phases, grain boundaries, nanoscale
films cross-sections and composite materials with unprecedented accuracy.
The TriboIndenterTM provides the best correlation between nano and microscale test locations, and measured results.
With new XPM high speed indentation,
the TriboindenterTM provides high density material property mapping with the highest throughput.
Bruker’s PicoIndenterTM range of electron microscope integrated nanoindentation platforms allow researchers direct,
unambiguous and time synchronised correlation of the mechanical strain signature of a sample, directly with the observed material change. Providing in-situ indentation, compression, bending, nano tensile, direct tensile, quantitative scratch, bending, DMA and fatigue testing, the PicoIndenterTM range has the precision, sensitivity and control to be successful. With TEM heating to 400oC and SEM heating to 800oC, the PicoIndenterTM range also allows researchers the opportunity to understand temperature dependant processes. With
the lowest drift performance of any EM integrated indenter, the PicoIndenterTM
range can also be used with EM analytical techniques such as EBSD, to provide true correlation of the mechanical result to the identified composition, phase, orientation and structure.
