A word from the CEO

The Master Painters Association
is celebrating some fantastic and important achievements throughout 2018 and into 2019.
20th Annual Awards for Excellence
The 20th Annual Awards for Excellence
was a major success last year as we saw
a number of newcomers to the awards, particularly from regional NSW plus newcomers to the industry. Along with
the new award categories, the logistics
of managing the entries, judging and deciphering the winners was a massive task in itself.
Thanks to our Sponsors
It is due to the generous assistance of
our sponsors, that the event has become such an enjoyable and prestigious event. Without such generous and loyal industry supporters, our Awards night would not
be possible and we owe them our sincere thanks. Our major sponsor for the Awards
is Wattyl, and we owe our thanks to all our sponsors and partners for their continued support of our Association, its members and the Industry:
• Wattyl
• Purdy
• Oldfields
• Tenaru, incorporating brands of Sikkens,
Hammerite, Mirka and Dynamic
• Botany Access
• Sydney Paint Stripping
• MGA Insurance
• CBUS
• Actevate
• Zena O’Connor,
The Colour Collective
• Paintback
• And Dulux for sponsoring the ACT Awards.
The Board and staff of Master Painters also contribute in many different ways to the Awards event and we greatly appreciate their substantial assistance.
Judging the Awards
With such a high calibre of entries, it was very difficult for the judges to pick winners. Due to the large number of entries, we needed to engage more judges than usual to help with the judging process, which
this year included NSW and the ACT. The awards process is strictly governed by our Awards Policies and Procedures. The judges do not know who they are judging and
must comply with confidentiality and code of conduct procedures. In the event that scores are too close to select a winner then a second round of judging is undertaken. In some instances, we had 3 separate judges re-evaluating scores. I am pleased to say the judging was very consistent among
all the judges and I thank them for their professionalism.
Thanks are due to the following judges who helped with this task:
• Sean Alexander • Matthew Burton • Ian Connell
• James Hoy
• Walter Lee
• Monica Lloyd
• Zena O’Connor • Matthew Page • Mark Roia
• Gary Stroud
• Paul Vella
• Peter Winter
