 A Message from Stan Dobosenski
Greetings BBQ family, I hope you are all doing well out there and not letting Mother Nature slow those fires this winter! The new year is well under way and I'd like to share an update, and make an introduction to you too.
With the recent annual meeting came the end of my 3 yr term as MBS President. I now will move to a Past President board member role for the next two years.
Friends, it has been a great privilege and a fantastic experience leading the hard working board of directors these past years. The MN BBQ society members are sure a great family to be a part of, and an honor to represent on the board. I have lots of fond reflections of the past three years, and here are some highlights I'd like to share a few with you;
•I've witnessed an EXPLOSION of back- yard BBQ community in MN as they chased the TOY program. They are a im- pressive band of cooks, and it is also fun to watch as they progress through the competition curve and jump into the master series too!
•It is great to see our judges and organiz-
ers get rewarded with the standing up of
the MBS judge and organizer of the year awards program. It is great to see those that are so crucial to BBQ foodsport get credit where credit is due, and we will continue to see this build too!
•Business membership program recently developed by the board. There are so many amazing folks in MN and sur- rounding business, and it is exciting to see that program budding and building.
•Organizing MN in May with my bride Tonia, and working with the rest of the MBS team and volunteers was an epic experience.
•MENTOR PROGRAM SUCCESS! This is one of my fa- vorites. It started in 2019 as pro/backyard matchups at our event MN in May, in 2020 it scaled to include judges as well. Real tangible results were witnessed immediately
with the breaking down of the sometimes present perceived barriers between pro cooks, back yard, and judges. Comraderie of the fire foodsport was boosted, people accelerated their learning curves, and most importantly met new friends and had fun! I can't wait to see it continue to rock in 21!
I tell you though, NONE of the above events, experiences, could've been done without the hard working kick ass mem- bers of the MBS, as well as the fantastic folks on the board. The MBS momentum and excitement is strong for the future!
It is my privilege to now introduce you to the new MBS President Jeremy Dock- endorf! Doc is a judge, a cook, small busi- ness owner, and a great family man too. He has previously served as VP, is
tremendously hard working, communicates great, and is the perfect person to lead the team & guide the ship into the future.
