PRESIDENT’S
LETTER
Howdy BBQ Enthusiasts,
Hello all you BBQ ghouls and goblins. As we welcome the fall season our glimpse of hope to be able to compete in October has unfor- tunately ended with the cancelation of the Ironstone Throwdown in the Vineyards. Ben Lobenstein, the contest organizer, sent the following message to participating teams:
“I am in the unfortunate position to an- nounce that once again the Ironstone Throwdown in the Vineyards (this time for 10/17/20) has been CANCELLED.
The County Health Department has since re- versed their earlier call that the county would be ready for public events by mid-Oc- tober, and thus Ironstone Vineyards cannot foresee going ahead with the event as planned.
The event returns to June 5, 2021, as of this moment.”
Damnit. Alas, I have quality proteins to practice or feed my family with for the holi- days, more likely the latter. We are still keeping our fingers and toes crossed for Burnt Offerings in November and Arizona Nat’l BBQ Stampede in December. Stay tuned.
In other news, the Board of Directors has of- ficially suspended all awards for 2020, in- cluding but not limited to Team of The Year, Judges Award, Hall of Fame, etc. This action was taken as a result of inactivity in the BBQ community due to COVID-19. We are hope- ful and optimistic that the 2021 BoD will be able to present awards next year.
Finally, as we look forward to 2021, the BoD is focused on improving our organization by

providing more opportunities for competi- tion and increasing our contributions to the various charities that we support. To do so effectively, we will be sending out a member survey to collect important feedback. We genuinely care about your thoughts and hope you will take time to participate. Ulti- mately, we believe the information we gather will lead to greater member engagement, re- tention, and overall satisfaction with the CBBQA. Soon you will receive a number of communications from the BoD with instruc- tions on the survey. Thanks in advance for your help.
See you next month from the Corner!
 Cheers, Steph
