“UGH!” Ken and Brett then made the tough choice to extend the season and move the SCA World Championship to March 12-16, 2021. This will make the SCA one of the first World Champi- onships of the new year.
We all look forward to closing out 2020. However, we are excited for what 2021 will bring to you as a competitor and for the SCA. Turning lemons into lemonade may have been the theme of 2020 but drinking the sweetness of this lemonade will be our theme in 2021. Looking for- ward to seeing you all.
Business Partners
Month after month we highlight a differ-
ent business partner, of which there are
several. This is our way of giving them a
shout out and thank them for being a
part of the SCA family. Each one makes
it possible for the SCA to not only exist
but to grow worldwide. Saying 2020 was
a challenging year would be an under-
statement it would seem, but our part-
ners stuck it out with us. This enabled us
to not only weather “Storm COVID” but
end on a high note preparing all of us for
what we hope will be the best year yet as
we ring in 2021. As 2020 comes to an
end, it would be fitting to say “Thank
You” to all our partners and say to them,
we look forward to a great 2021 together. As for you, the steak cooker, please look at our partners and support them as they each support us all in doing what we love, grilling a great steak.
Events of the Month
As you read this, there are less than 30 days remaining in 2020. Plans
are being made to gather family around, company holiday parties and then New Year’s Eve plans. What better way would there be to end this year and begin a new one than to be with our SCA family? Well, December 31st and January 1st we have this opportunity. Actually, there are two opportunities on either side of the Mississippi River. Jim Sallee is host- ing the Flying Bull Bash in Rockford, IA which may find some challenging cold weather but will warm the hearts of the SCA cooks. The other competition this weekend will be in Laurel, MS as pro- moter Jamey Cooley puts 2020 to sleep and rings in 2021 with some steaks. So, if you are looking for one more chance to get your Golden Ticket, then these contests will be the ones for you.
ACE Hardware Points Chase
We are winding down the year, but the points chase is still in full swing. Al- though Sandy Brown has a comfortable lead of 76 points over 2nd place Ben Blanton, she isn’t resting on her laurels. Most in the chase have realized, at this point, this is a race for 2nd as the point spread from 2nd to 6th place is also 76 points. You can expect to see some shuf- fling back and forth in this group by the end of the season. Ben, Layne Holmes,
Tim Brown, Terry Roan and John Pendray are continuing to cook every weekend. But let’s not count out Andy and Cheryl Williams, Jerry Buchan and Mark Huntley who has cracked the Top 10 for the first time this year. Keep checking the SCA Group page on Facebook to keep up with the latest as the season winds down.
