Happy December!
Can you believe the year is almost over? But didn’t March last for like 213 days? 2020 has definitely been a year of change, a year of fear for some, a year of missing so much... like seeing all our BBQ family and friends.
To that end – it was also a year of disappointment for some; a year where you were either on the “make new changes” or the year of “there’s always tomorrow to do it”. Some people flourished during the COVID stay at home or- ders, others found new hobbies, others just stopped – stopped doing anything familiar; it has affected all of us and you, our members, in different ways.
During 2020 we did have some positives with NEBS, we took to social media much stronger than in years past – we hope we helped keep a lot of you in touch with others and you seemed to have fun commenting and sharing your thoughts on our Facebook page! Thanks so much for stay- ing involved and part of our community! We have also started a blog on the website – it is slowly building and we welcome anyone to get involved and be a member writer! Got an idea? Get in touch with us! Have a question you would like answered? Send us your question and we will try to find someone to answer! And did
you see the new TOY system? It is all
computerized!! It is going to be so
easy to update in 2021 vs the manual
systems we had in place. We look for-
ward to giving the program a work-
out this upcoming year.
But back to 2020, we all had a disap- pointing year of so many cancella- tions in both our BBQ world and our personal lives; 2020 is a year that has forever changed us. We pray you and all your family is safe and coping well.
But we are looking forward to a recovery in 2021 and get- ting back to business!
With the disappointment of cancelling so many BBQ events over the 2020 season, we have a list of organizers who are ready to make it happen in 2021. They are all going to be waiting for positive movements in the new year!
That brings me to a few things – 1 – watch the NEBS calen- dar carefully as we restart to work with organizers to build 2021 events and – 2- NEBS could really use your help to make the 2021 season come back with a BANG!! - 3 – Also be sure to watch the NEBS Facebook page for updates on TOY and the Annual Meeting. -4- and unfortunately, as you have probably expected, we will not be having a Holi- day Party this year – we will have to make 2021 bigger and better!
Come be part of the 2021 fun we all are looking forward to – get involved with NEBS! Join the NEBS membership, come be a part of the Board of Directors, volunteer for some of our committees. 2021 will still have it’s challenges and we need you to help us navigate through them to make
it all happen. If you want to find out more, please reach out!
In closing, we wish you and yours a very happy holiday season – celebrat- ing in the ways that are best for your situation. Stay in touch and we look forward to a “more normal” 2021 to enjoy with all of you.
Best Wishes for the New Year! Kim Stanfield, NEBS President kstanfield@nebs.org
