 Delicious
I was in New York one time and the
locals would not stop raving about
how Nathan’s Hotdogs were the best
hotdog on the planet (much like
folks talking about Whataburgers).
They used the word ‘delicious’ as
one of the attributes of this hotdog
and I’m not here to debate this
(email me if you really want to know
my thoughts). But can you really use
the word ‘delicious’ when describing
a hotdog? Yes! Yes, you can.
Whether it’s a Nathan’s, an all-beef
one from Hebrew National or a Ball-
park, one thing we can all agree is
they are delicious, especially during
times like Memorial Day (which we
just celebrated) or the up coming
July 4th. Think about how they taste
ball game whether a minor league or
they are delicious. There’s just something satisfying to the taste buds during these times, even if is just a backyard get together on a Thursday evening. This is why, sometimes, you tell Alexa to put hotdogs on your shopping list.
Creative
I know what some of you are thinking, “Where’s the cre-
ativity? How can I stretch as a cook if I’m only cooking a hotdog?” When you box yourself in with “it’s just a hotdog” then that’s all it will be. What was your mom thinking when she chopped up a couple hotdogs to put in your mac & cheese? Ever had Frank and Beans? Who thought of that? Now days you can have hot- dogs infused with cheese. Some split their hotdogs to cradle all the extras, while others have experimented with the type of buns to use. My brother eats his with mayonnaise on it (I know, but he’s my brother, what can I do) but others will put so much on theirs, you can faintly hear the old lady from the 80’s Wendy’s com- mercial whispering, “Where’s the with any meal you cook, sometimes
when you’re at a base- major league park,
beef?” Just like you do
you just need to let your imagination run wild with your hotdog.
As we all cope with the pandemic and the “new normal” everyone keeps talking about, isn’t it refreshing to know, sometimes, you just need a hotdog and it will be there, just like it used to be.
