A two hour drive took us to Christchurch where the devastation of the earthquake and after shocks in 2011 left the city with substantial damage. On our visit to the Transitional Cathedral we spoke to Alison Bluck who told us her own earthquake story that day when she had by chance flown to Wellington in the morning but could not return for two days. When she asked what she should bring back, her family said they desperately needed bread!
