Departing from Queenstown airport for Auckland en route for home, we were surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges like the Remarkables and it was hard not to feel a strong desire to return.
New Zealand had given us the holiday of a lifetime with rich memories and an abiding love of this special country with its two outstanding islands and wonderfully friendly people.
Flying over the serpentine shape of Lake Wakatipu far below, it is no wonder that novelists like Anthony Trollope declared in 1872 "I do not know that lake scenery can be finer that this."
