                DISTRICT REPORTS
Southwest District Report Kelly Moore, PT, DPT - Chair
It has been wonderful to connect with so many professional and student members this year! We have hosted a handful of PT Pub Nights including a combined district event with the West Central District . Thanks to all who joined us on January 25 at the Rusty Bucket in Liberty Center, May 11 at Madtree Brewing, and July 6
at The Cabana on the River . It was especially wonderful to see some new faces and have strong faculty and student representation from all our local PT and PTA programs in attendance on July 6! We had around 30 people present at The Cabana! Way to go! I want to recognize Heather Schradin, Kari Lindegren, and Lauren Knasel for the key role they each had in coordinating one of these PT Pub Night events!
Speaking of past events, we had a PAC bowling fundraiser on March 24 at Heid’s Lanes . Please join me in thanking Caitlin DiNardo for organizing this successful event! If you have not been able
to join us for an event year this year, there is no need to worry . We have plenty more planned for the year, including some continuing education courses, a PT Day of Service event and more PT Pub Nights . Jason Hugentobler is presenting a course on concussion at Cincinnati Children’s in August and Lizanne Mulligan will provide a lower extremity cadaver review course this October at University of Cincinnati . As you can tell from the

photos, we’re having a lot of fun this year so please come join us!
I’d like to highlight our local PT and PTA programs . Congratulations to Mary Broering from Mount St . Joseph University’s DPT Class of 2018 who was an
APTA Mary McMillian Scholarship Award recipient . MSJU was announced as the Ohio Kentucky Consortium of Directors of Clinical Education school winners for recruiting organ and blood donors in April during Organ Donation Awareness Month . At UC Clermont, Carolyn Shisler attended the Academy of Acute Care’s Bridging the Acute Care Gap where DPT and PTA academicians and clinicians collaborated to brainstorm and share knowledge on improving clinical education in the acute care setting and Sam Coppoletti presented at CSM
on “How Learning Works: Evidence-Based Practices
from Lab and Classroom Studies ." Meanwhile at UC’s DPT program, Brigid Griffin and MeMe Earnest were selected to serve as student ushers at the APTA House of Delegates in Orlando, FL and faculty members Rose Smith, Lizanne Mulligan, Nancy Talbott, and Tina Whalen were honored at the College of Allied Health Sciences 20th Anniversary Celebration . Congratulations to all these programs on these accolades! Congratulations to all Class of 2018 PT and PTA graduates! Best wishes to all of you as you begin your careers!
Thank you for your support and participation at the district level! We hope to see you at a Southwest District event soon! Be sure to connect with us on social media in the meantime!
