 The second chart shows the descendants of Joanne Strode, who married Thomas Mendenhall III, a very well researched Quaker family! Joanne Strode is the great aunt of Margaret and Martha Strode.
I have found many DNA matches to their descendants, both on Ancestry.com and on FTDNA. FTDNA and Ancestry.com have different criteria for how they assess DNA matches. I explain this in more detail in the Appendix. To simplify, Ancestry.com can "under-report" a match (downsize) by breaking it up into smaller segments that then seem insignificant. The matches on FTDNA are much larger than those found on Ancestry, with a significant number above 10 cM.
SO.....
MARGARET BRYAN IS FRANCIS’ MOTHER
AND WILLIAM BRYAN, SR. AND MARGARET STRODE ARE HIS GRANDPARENTS!
We can now amend the family trees on Ancestry to include these findings. This, in and of itself, will take some doing!
And, good news to all of my cousins who believed the stories generated in our family that we were related to Rebecca Bryan and Daniel Boone.......We are!
Just not in the way that we thought, not through the Bryans but the Strodes....
