in Germany at the end of June, but for us, every holiday is a busman’s holiday in the end, so we concluded our trip with doing what we love doing best – having a good old rummage around a wonderful fleamarket!
Actually, knowing what we are like, we’d done our homework before we set off.
We booked the Saturday night at a hotel
in Bruges (or Brugge), which left time for last-minute sightseeing before coming back to Blighty through the Channel Tunnel on Sunday night. But we knew that in our case that would mean spending the day exploring The Zandfeesten fleamarket, which is held just three times a year – in June, August and late September.
Our hotel was conveniently right on top of ’t Zand Square, which is at the heart of the flea, so that we had somewhere close to drop off the buys we suspected we might make, and a late 3pm check-out would help enormously, as we could just dump and run!
