 and computers consume maximum power. In order to increase the battery life, a display of the device should be made in such a way that minimum power is consumed. Research has been going on all over the world for the enhancement of battery life. It can be done in two ways:

1. By changing the material of the battery
itself.2. By modifying the material used for the fabrication of display.
My study focused on the fabrication and modification of new materials
for the display of electronic
devices (as mentioned in point
no. 2 above).
Conventional electronic
devices utilize the flow of an
electron’s charge, which we
call as the current. However,
modern electronic devices
deal with an additional
property of an electron, which
is called spin; it gives rise to
a new research field called
spintronics or spin electronics.
Spin can be visualized as the
motion of a toy top, as shown
in Fig. 2. In the same way, the
spin of an electron is simply
the motion of an electron on
its own axis either clockwise
(spin-down state) or anticlockwise (spin-up state). Thus, the current generated by either spin-up or spin-down state of the electron is

called spin-polarized (SP) current. Electronics require inorganic semiconductors such as silicon (Si) to control the current flowing through the device, whereas spintronics makes use of organic semiconductors to control the SP current. field of science known as ‘organic spintronics’. Organic spintronics is a fusion of organic
electronics and spintronics. Organic spintronics now supports a rapidly growing industry, including organic light- emitting diode (OLED) displays used in cell phone displays and smart TVs. The OLED has several attractive features such as low driving voltage, high efficiency, wide colour variation and fast response speed. OLED consists of a thin layer of organic semiconductor sandwiched between two electrical contacts. A thin layer of organic semiconductor emits the light when an electric current is passed through it. This is called electroluminescence. An organic semiconductor is a carbon-based semiconductor whose conductivity lies between a conductor (good conductor) and an insulator (bad conductor).
      As technology is progressing day by day, it has some limitations too. Battery life
or power consumption of electronic devices is always the primary concern for everyone. The display (or screen) of TVs, mobiles, laptops and computers consume maximum power. In order to increase the battery life, a display of the device should be made in such a way that minimum power is consumed.
