Therefore, excess consumed proteins are broken down and metabolized with the use of energy, releasing byproducts and free radicals, which in turn lead to the accumulation of toxins in the cell. Thus, the intake of extra nutrients requires additional metabolism in the body, leading to a quicker cell/ organismal ageing.
Since geriatric care is gaining momentum in India and worldwide, we need to understand how it can be
achieved in the best possible way. In India, the ageing population is comparatively less than the young population, and hence researches on the nutritional needs of humans can benefit both the categories of people. Therefore, starting early on a healthy and sufficient nutritional diet for the young population will be beneficial in the long run. But for the ageing population, it is never too late to start eating an adequately enriched meal.
   Pupation height of the flies, upon exposure to lower protein concentrations, showed that larvae were able to wander high up in the vials and pupate, thereby achieving pupation height equal to that of the control.
